Cheap GPS Systems – The Perfect Gift for those who get Lost

You’ve probably been there before - you’re driving to a party, a meeting, or even a job interview.  But wait…was it a left at the third traffic light, or a right at the second?  What street should you be looking for?  Is that a 2 or a 7 on your hastily-written directions?  Nothing can be more frustrating that being lost, but with a cheap GPS navigation system, you don’t ever have to experience that frustration again!

Navigation systems like TomTom or a Garmin give you step by step directions to your destination.  All you have to do is program in your starting address and your ending address.  You can also look up the addresses of many businesses—their information is pre-programmed into the system.  The GPS display will show you what street you are on and when a turn is upcoming.  Most GPS systems also speak to you, so you don’t even have to take your eyes off the road.  Instead, a pleasant voice will announce any turns or other actions you need to take.

GPS technology has come a long way since the first navigation system was created.  Now, nearly all GPS systems automatically connect to a satellite network.  This means they are upgraded with the latest information, including new streets, new business addresses, and even construction information.  Most also have many different programming options, such as allowing you to instruct the GPS to avoid heavily trafficked streets.

For those who travel often or get lost often, there’s no better gift than a GPS system.  Even if you don’t travel very often, it’s still a great investment for when you do.  Plus, you never know—it may show you a different way to work that saves you time.

Books - An Underappreciated Gift

Give a kid, especially a teen, a video game and you’ll see his eyes light up with excitement.  Sadly, you may not get the same reaction from a book.  While many children and teens don’t seem as interested in reading these days, that’s often because they simply haven’t been given the right book.  You’ll find a variety of cheap books to give kids to get them into reading if you know a bit about the kid’s interest.

That’s really the main piece of information you need—what does the person you’re buying for like?  If you’re buying for a kid who loves fantasy, you might want to look into Harry Potter or the Twilight series.  Both of these will appeal to teens interested in magic and fantastic creatures, although Twilight is aimed more at girls because it includes several romance storylines.

If you’re buying for an adult, perhaps a biography or historical book would be a great gift.  This is especially true if you can find a book by someone the person admires.  Another option is to browse their bookshelves next time you’re at their home and see what authors they enjoy or what series they are reading.  Of course, there is always the chance you’ll buy them a book they already own, so be sure to keep your receipt in case you need to return it.

Finally, if you’re having trouble selecting a book, ask a bookshop assistant for a recommendation.  Often, they have an idea of what books a person may like if you give them a little bit of information about the person and their interests.
